Chloe + Jake

FROM HERSHEY TO CAMBRIDGE + BEYOND

Carrying on traditions, making new memories along the way

This “Tinder success story” duo first matched while Chloe was performing in a show at Hershey Park and Jake was home from college. Their first date at Troegs Brewing Co. morphed into an ice cream-tasting outing, since the newly-turned 21-year-olds hadn’t yet developed a palate for beer. While dating, Chloe showed Jake around her favorite places in Boston and Cambridge, causing him to fall in love with the area, too. As a wedding venue, they were also drawn to the Marlowe’s expedition, travel and celestial theme. Since the couple had spent years in a long-distance relationship while traveling extensively for work, they knew they wanted to incorporate that thread into their wedding. Their creative touches? Luggage tags as escort cards and vintage postcards for table numbers that helped personalize their special day.

Memorable Details

The bride wore a gown designed by Martina Liana and had her hair and makeup done by childhood friend, Lisa Graveline of Prisms Hair Design Studio & Spa in Framingham, Massachusetts. Since Lisa has gotten Chloe prepped for dances and school plays since they were kids, it only seemed fitting to include her in the wedding day, too.

“We loved [the Marlowe’s] unique aesthetic. The jewel tones and gold accents were the palette we imagined for the wedding.”

Chloe’s parents also got married in Cambridge 30 years ago, making the whole day feel very “full circle.”

Their ceremony was held at the Swedenborg Chapel, which has an old-school New England vibe complete with beautiful stonework and classic stained glass. They lined each pew with candles, and Chloe’s grandfather Rev. Costas Kounadis married the couple. (He had also married her parents and many cousins, so it was a very special tradition to carry on.) The duo also loved having three of their talented friends sing at the ceremony.

A reception highlight was when DJ Dave Hodges played an ABBA remix that led to a huge dance party. Other crowd-pleasers: the traditional Greek circle dancing and, of course, the Greek money dance. The newlyweds spent their wedding night in the Kimpton Marlowe Bridal Suite, and were thrilled when hotel staff surprised sent up a slice of each layer of their wedding cake, along with a bottle of Champagne. They said, ”It was such a surprise and the perfect way to end the evening celebrating in luxury! “
